WELCOME

HYMN (RCH 601) O God our help in ages past

1. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home;

2. Under the shadow of thy throne

Thy saints have dwelt secure;

Sufficient is thine arm alone,

And our defence is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,

Or earth received her frame,

From everlasting thou art God,

To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in thy sight

Are like an evening gone,

Short as the watch that ends the night

Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,

Bears all its sons away;

They fly forgotten, as a dream

Dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Be thou our guard while troubles last,

And our eternal home.

PRAYER

Children’s Address – Families

Song – I’m special because God has loved me

I’m Special Because God Has Loved Me

For He Gave The Best Thing

That He Had To Save Me

His Own Son Jesus,

Crucified To Take The Blame

For All The Bad Things I Have Done

Thank You Jesus, Thank You Lord

For Loving Me So Much

I Know I Don’t Deserve Anything

Help Me Feel Your Love Right Now

To Know Deep In My Heart

That I’m Your Special Friend

READING Proverbs 19:13-27

13 A foolish child is a father’s ruin,

and a quarrelsome wife is like

the constant dripping of a leaky roof.

14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,

but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

15 Laziness brings on deep sleep,

and the shiftless go hungry.

16 Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life,

but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.

17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,

and he will reward them for what they have done.

18 Discipline your children, for in that there is hope;

do not be a willing party to their death.

19 A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty;

rescue them, and you will have to do it again.

20 Listen to advice and accept discipline,

and at the end you will be counted among the wise.

21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,

but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

22 What a person desires is unfailing love[a];

better to be poor than a liar.

23 The fear of the Lord leads to life;

then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

24 A sluggard buries his hand in the dish;

he will not even bring it back to his mouth!

25 Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence;

rebuke the discerning, and they will gain knowledge.

26 Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother

is a child who brings shame and disgrace.

27 Stop listening to instruction, my son,

and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

Hymn (RCH 563) (Cwm Rhondda) Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us

Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us

o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;

guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,

for we have no help but thee;

yet possessing every blessing,

if our God our Father be.

Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:

all our weakness thou dost know;

thou didst tread this earth before us,

thou didst feel its keenest woe;

lone and dreary, faint and weary,

through the desert thou didst go.

Spirit of our God, descending,

fill our hearts with heavenly joy,

love with every passion blending,

pleasure that can never cloy:

thus provided, pardoned, guided,

nothing can our peace destroy.

Prayer

Hymn (Praise 933) (Belmont) Our children, Lord, in faith and prayer

1. Our children, Lord, in faith and prayer

we bring before your face;

let them your covenant mercies share

and save them by your grace.

2. In early days their hearts secure

from evil ways, we pray;

and let them to life’s end endure

by walking in your way.

3. We do not ask for wealth or fame

for them in this world’s strife;

we ask, in your almighty name:

‘Give them eternal life!’

4. Before them let their parents live

in godly faith and fear;

then, Lord, to heaven their souls receive

and bring their children there.

SERMON SONS

Hymn (Praise 932) (Monkland 197) God of mercy, hear our prayer

God of mercy, hear our prayer

For the children You have given;

Let them all Your blessings share:

Grace on earth and joy in heaven!

In the morning of their days

May their hearts to You be drawn;

Let them learn to sing Your praise

From their childhood’s early dawn.

Cleanse their should from every stain

Through the Saviour’s precious blood;

Let them all be born again

And be reconciled to God.

For this mercy, Lord, we cry;

Open now Your gracious ear;

Since on You ours souls rely,

Hear our prayer, in mercy hear!

Benediction
