72 Come, let us sing of a wonderful love

92 Father God I wonder

664 Beauty for brokenness

HYMN 870 Jesus is the name we honour

Jesus is the name we honour;

Jesus is the name we praise.

Majestic name above all other names,

the highest Heaven and Earth proclaim

that Jesus is our God.

We will glorify, we will lift him high,

we will give him honour and praise,

we will glorify, we will lift him high,

we will give him honour and praise.

Jesus is the name we worship;

Jesus is the name we trust.

He is the King above all other kings,

let all creation stand and sing

that Jesus is our God.

We will glorify…

Jesus is the Father’s splendour;

Jesus is the Father’s joy.

He will return to reign in majesty,

and every eye at last will see

that Jesus is our God.

We will glorify…

PRAYER Dugald MacPherson

Children’s Address Be a WISE not a FOOLISH person

Song. Don’t Build Your House On The Sandy-Land,

Don’t Build Your House On The Sandy-Land,

Don’t Build It Too Near The Shore,

Well, It May Look Kind Of Nice

But You’ll Have To Build It Twice,

Oh, You’ll Have To Build Your House Once More.

You Better Build Your House Upon The Rock,

Make A Good Foundation On A Solid Spot.

And Though The Storms May Come And Go,

The Peace Of God You Will Know.

READING Proverbs 14 : 8-29 Dugald MacPherson

8 The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways,

but the folly of fools is deception.

9 Fools mock at making amends for sin,

but goodwill is found among the upright.

10 Each heart knows its own bitterness,

and no one else can share its joy.

11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed,

but the tent of the upright will flourish.

12 There is a way that appears to be right,

but in the end it leads to death.

13 Even in laughter the heart may ache,

and rejoicing may end in grief.

14 The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways,

and the good rewarded for theirs.

15 The simple believe anything,

but the prudent give thought to their steps.

16 The wise fear the Lord and shun evil,

but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.

17 A quick-tempered person does foolish things,

and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.

18 The simple inherit folly,

but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19 Evildoers will bow down in the presence of the good,

and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 The poor are shunned even by their neighbours,

but the rich have many friends.

21 It is a sin to despise one’s neighbour,

but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.

22 Do not those who plot evil go astray?

But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.

23 All hard work brings a profit,

but mere talk leads only to poverty.

24 The wealth of the wise is their crown,

but the folly of fools yields folly.

25 A truthful witness saves lives,

but a false witness is deceitful.

26 Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,

and for their children it will be a refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,

turning a person from the snares of death.

28 A large population is a king’s glory,

but without subjects a prince is ruined.

29 Whoever is patient has great understanding,

but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

Sing Psalm 23 (Townend)

The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want;

He makes me lie in pastures green.

He leads me by the still, still waters,

His goodness restores my soul.

And I will trust in You alone,

And I will trust in You alone,

For Your endless mercy follows me,

Your goodness will lead me home.

He guides my ways in righteousness,

And He anoints my head with oil,

And my cup, it overflows with joy,

I feast on His pure delights.

And though I walk the darkest path,

I will not fear the evil one,

For You are with me, and Your rod and staff

Are the comfort I need to know.

Prayers Dugald MacPherson

Hymn Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now I’m found,

Was blind, but now, I see.

‘Twas Grace that taught,

my heart to fear.

And Grace, my fears relieved.

How precious did that Grace appear,

the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,

We have already come.

‘Twas Grace has brought us safe thus far

and Grace will lead us home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years

bright shining as the sun.

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise,

than when we’ve first begun.

SERMON Proverbs 14 : 8-29 FOLLY

Hymn O Christ, in Thee my soul hath found

O Christ, in Thee my soul hath found,

And found in Thee alone,

The peace, the joy I sought so long,

The bliss till now unknown.

Now none but Christ can satisfy,

None other name for me;

There’s love, and life, and lasting joy,

Lord Jesus, found in Thee.

I sighed for rest and happiness,

I yearned for them, not Thee;

But while I passed my Saviour by,

His love laid hold on me.

I tried the broken cisterns, Lord,

But, ah, the waters failed!

E’en as I stooped to drink they fled

And mocked me as I wailed.

The pleasures lost I sadly mourned,

But never wept for Thee,

Till grace the sightless eyes received,

Thy loveliness to see.

Benediction
